Company representatives wanted an updated cafeteria with a greater variety of food offerings. The original cafeteria consisted of stainless steel mobile serving counters and quarry tile floors. The only stations were the grill, hot food line, beverages and salad bar. The new design accommodates hot food, grill, hot and cold beverages, grab-n-go, presentation cooking, pizza/pasta, specials bar, salad bar, sandwich bar, soup bar, desserts and snacks in the same footprint as the original cafeteria layout. There is a good balance of served and self-serve options. Customers are processed more quickly with the improved scramble cafeteria design.

Planning for the kitchen renovation phase included updating equipment and improving storage and workcenter efficiency. Foodservice design as well as interior design was planned by Robert Rippe & Associates, Inc.
